The Beatles, auch gern nur Beatles genannt, war eine englische Musikgruppe aus Liverpool. Der erster Auftritt der Beatles in ihrer endgültigen Zusammensetzung Lennon, McCartney, Harrison und Starr findet am 18. August 1962 statt. Obwohl die Band 1970 nach 8 Jahren zerbricht, stellte sie eine Reihe musikalischer Rekorde auf, von denen einige heute noch gültig sind. So sind die Beatles die Band mit den meisten verkauften Tonträgern weltweit (ca. 1,3 Milliarden), mit den meisten Multi-Platin-Auszeichnungen, den meisten Nr.-1-Singles, den meisten Nr.-1-Alben und den meisten gezählten Wochen auf Platz 1 in den Album-Charts.
