Herb Alpert (* 31. März 1935)

"Trompeter sind Alchimisten: Sie machen aus Blech Gold", beschreibt Herb Alpert seinen Erfolg. Mit dieser Zauber-Mixtur triumphierte er sogar über die Beatles: 18 Wochen lang hielt sich seine "Tijuana Brass"-Band mit den fetzigen Latino-Klängen 1966 auf Platz Eins der Billboard-Album-Charts. Im selben Jahr spielte er sich ins Guiness-Buch der Rekorde, als er gleichzeitig fünf Alben unter den Top 20 platzierte. Diesen Rekord hat bisher noch niemand gebrochen.

Der gebürtige Kalifornier und Mitbegründer des legendären Plattenlabels A&M Records ist auch Maler.
